I guess this has become the standard ongoing joke at award shows about a man who has accused of raping over 40 different women. Not saying McHale’s joke in particularly, but the notion that if a man, who has not been criminally charged, with raping even one woman; could then become the butt of public ridicule at any given expense. This is the same Joe or in this case Joanne, Public who wants to turn around and have endless discussions, commercials, and petitions about women’s rights and domestic abuse. My question is why haven’t any of the alleged “accusers” come out and say “My abuse or what happened to me [us] with Mr. Cosby shouldn’t be a laughing matter.” Where are those women who, under the watchful eye of Gloria Allred, lead the charge in almost weekly tearful press conferences? Only Beverly Johnson, who has admitted she was never assaulted mind you, is making a press run for the ages talking more about (again) women’s rights than her actual encounter with Cosby; which landed her in taxi cab after she felt woozy and cursed him out. Maybe she’s getting a career makeover from this due to she’s releasing a memoir next month, The Face That Changed It All: A Memoir. Spare me the coincidence.
Staunch Cosby supporters singer/actress, Jill Scott and comedienne Whoopi Goldberg, have also withdrew their support of the 78-year old now infamous comedian. This comes after a deposition was leaked from 2005 in which Cosby admits to giving women Quaaludes during his private encounters. Cosby maintains that his encounters were consensual and denies giving women any drugs without their consent. No make matters even more suspect, since when does a judge decide to release sealed information to the public on the account of the defendant being a social “moralist?” Last time I checked he was talking to the black community by way of his notorious Pound Cake speech; something mostly African-Americans were agitated by. Still, even with accusations allegedly stemming from the 1960’s, not nare one of these women—especially majority of whom are white women—came forward or went to the police. Everyone knows Cosby wasn’t at the apex of his power, fame, and popularity until he single-handedly saved the sitcom genre with The Cosby Show—and we’re talking about the mid-80’s when the show peaked. I bring up Cosby’s perceived power because since when has ANY black man in the history of the corporation called America; has a black man been allowed (that’s right) to exhibit this power these women are claiming? Heck, even O.J. Simpson had his day in court (although he was acquitted) involving a white woman. There’s even a novel which has been has heralded as the most classical piece of literary excellence of the 20th century–Harper Lee’s, To Kill A Mockingbird—which highlights how black men under the slightest hint of rape or even looking at a white woman wrong; were treated in this country. Amazing how the liberal media has amnesia when it comes to its inherently racist core.
To add insult to injury, during President Barack Hussain Obama’s press conference following an address involving the new Iranian nuclear deal, Obama was asked about the sexual assault allegations involving Bill Cosby; and the petition to revoke his US Presidential Medal of Honor. While the President stated there’s no precedent in revoking Cosby’s medal, instead Obama gave his interpretation amidst the allegations of rape:
So let me get this straight: With everything else going on in this nation ranging from police brutality, black people mysteriously dying in police custody, the unsolved church fires, impending economic collapse, oh, and the fact this press conference was about new Iran nuclear deal? You ask about Bill Cosby, really? If this doesn’t let you know it’s not only about destroying a man’s character and legacy; but about forwarding a cultural Marxist feminist agenda under the disguise of ‘progressively’ dealing with the highly exaggerated demand for women’s rights. As far as who asked the question, her name is April Ryan, a correspondent from the American Urban Public Networks, actually defended her comments per Mediaite.com in saying:
She might as well as been Judd Apatow at that press conference. This Hollywood director/producer/writer who’s responsible for his notable works The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up and Freaks and Geeks, has been a vigilant agitator and critic, of Cosby and here recently on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show, had more jabs to poke at the infamous comedian.
This is why I am a firm believer that there is NO black Hollywood. For the sake of trying to hold on or revamp their illustrious careers, they’d rather become the antagonist and further alienate a former star. And among those who have decided to point the proverbial finger is Joseph C. Phillips. This actor, who decided peak his head out of theatric obscurity, created a site called “Of Course Bill Cosby Is Guilty,” to further demonize a man who actually played a hand in his initial on-screen success. But in typical negrotude fashion, we will still point to the Pound Cake speech and say that’s what he gets for down-playing the less fortunate and poor. Me personally don’t think he was just talking about poor Negroes rather he was talking about a mentality of victimization. Yes, black folks have lived and managed to some degree, to thrive in a white supremacist culture. That is understood. However, this inferior attitude which was heavy perpetuated by whites is not the whole cause of our demise. That’s what Cosby tried to tell us. Unfortunately, history has always been a teacher when it comes to black people with power and influence. There’s always been the “hidden hand” that if that person were to reject it, it spells the impending doom and destruction when it comes to a Negroes career. Some say Cosby got too big for his bridges when he criticized black folk but to me our media; no matter how liberal it is, has always allowed celebs or political talking head Negroes to air out our dirty laundry. I feel Cosby wasn’t trying to be on a high horse when criticized us, but he invested in us enough that he actually cared. But that’s just my opinion. However, how sad it is that a man nearing his 80’s is being crucified by the same media that he did nothing more than to promote positivity and accomplishments among African-Americans. No one is excusing his adultery to his wife of over 50-years Camille; however, his adulterous ways should have found him out way back in the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s by the same accusers that are coming forward now. Maybe Cosby needs to get the memo that the media and Hollywood is like a private, occultic, fraternity; they aren’t friendly to the rich Negro unless he continues to buck dance and step n’ fetch. But you already knew that Sir; maybe you just thought it couldn’t happen to a moralist black man who they love to see point the finger at his own kind. I still stand for Cosby y’all.
